Atomic RPG System Character Style:
Neutral
In the Atomic RPG System all characters will choose a Character Style. A character’s Style is similar to alignments in Dungeons and Dragons in the sense that it should help guide a player on how they can play their character. However, Character Style differs as it is not as limiting to role play as alignment. A player is allowed to deviate from this “overall attitude” of a character.
Players that choose a Neutral Character Style should do so because their character will want to handle situations through Skills and other methods before resorting to battle.
Neutral Style characters will often seek a non-combat solution to a situation if possible. When combat does erupt, they may or may not go on the offensive. Neutral characters may change their tactics frequently depending on the situation–they are often looking at a bigger picture than their own situation. Sometimes a Neutral character will put their needs first and sometimes they will put the needs of others first. When speaking in Dungeons and Dragons terms, a Neutral Style character in Atomic would fit under the Neutral alignment for Dungeons and Dragons.
Since Neutral Characters try to avoid combat when possible, they are good at Skills. Neutral Style Characters will have their Character Tier added to all of their Skills as a Build Bonus.
Neutral Game Mechanic Benefits
- Character Tier Bonus to Skills
- Offensive or Defensive At Will Powers and Primary Discipline Powers
Neutral Characters do not usually have a preference when it comes to having either Offensive Powers or Defensive Powers. Their Powers are often focused on hindering and enemy or helping an ally rather than damaging or hurting others.
Traditional character types that would be considered to have Neutral Character Styles might include monks, druids, ambassadors, diplomats, crafters, bards, thieves, and any other character that wants to be very good at character Skills.
